Team Leader, Financial Crimes

About the role

As Team Leader, Financial Crimes, you will lead a specialist team responsible for detecting, investigating, and managing financial crime risks across ART. This role provides the opportunity to step into a visible people leadership position with real influence across the broader business, while supporting Risk & Compliance as a key second‑line partner. You’ll balance day‑to‑day operational leadership with coaching, quality oversight, and contribution to strategic initiatives and system enhancements. Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, you’ll help uplift capability, embed strong controls, and protect our members and organisation.

 

Day to day, you'll:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a team of Financial Crimes Analysts and Seniors to deliver high‑quality operational outcomes
  • Overseeing triage, investigation, and escalation of suspicious matters across fraud and AML/CTF activities
  • Acting as a key escalation point, providing guidance, technical direction, and constructive feedback
  • Managing workflow, resourcing, and priorities across BAU and project-related activities
  • Embedding quality assurance practices and continuously improving processes and controls
  • Partnering with stakeholders across ART to identify, assess, and manage financial crime risk
  • Supporting system enhancements and change initiatives across transaction monitoring activities
  • Contributing to financial crime risk advice for strategic initiatives and projects
  • Preparing and supporting reporting to relevant governance forums and committees
  • Representing ART in external financial crime forums when required

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • You bring proven people‑leadership experience, with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop high‑performing teams
  • Experience in financial crime, AML/CTF, fraud, or risk and compliance within financial services (or the capability to quickly build this expertise)
  • Strong operational mindset, with confidence managing BAU activity alongside change and improvement initiatives
  • The ability to provide clear direction, make sound risk‑based decisions, and act as a trusted escalation point
  • Well‑developed stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence across diverse business areas
  • A quality‑focused approach, with an eye for detail and a drive for continuous improvement
  • Comfortable delivering challenging feedback with professionalism and empathy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to contribute to reports and governance forums
  • A collaborative leadership style aligned to ART’s values of courage, empathy, and excellence
