About the role

The Senior Operations Officer role encompasses a variety of administrative, leadership and technical duties. The role provides guidance, training and coaching to team members on procedural and technical issues as well as providing support to the leader with planning and supervision.

The relative importance of the accountabilities will vary depending upon the focus of either Service or Support as outlined in the performance goals for each function.

 

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Lead regulatory reporting and other key events liaising and co-ordinating with various stakeholders to ensure that the data is delivered accurately and on time within the legislative or required timeframes.
  • Proactively identify data integrity issues and support root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Drive improvement in the quality of member data and its usage across the Group.
  • Research, analyse and solve legislative, process and system-based issues from the team or wider business unit.
  • Provide training, capability uplift and coaching to team members and the wider business unit.
  • Act as the first point of technical escalation for team members or other Senior Operation Officers to support them in performing their role.
  • Analyse and improve administrative processes and contribute to ongoing business improvement through identification of Continuous Improvement initiatives and ensure implemented improvements are adopted consistently across the team.
  • Ensure procedures accurately reflect best practice and are consistently followed by team members.
  • Support in managing risk in line with the Australian Retirement Trust’s compliance and risk management framework, including efficiently and effectively identifying and resolving incidents and issues to achieve desired business outcomes (including root cause analysis, member impact, control assessment, stakeholder management, and ongoing prevention).
  • Provide knowledge and perform testing to ensure change is fit for purpose.
  • Contribute to a supportive and cohesive team environment.
  • Perform any other duties that may be reasonably expected of you.

 

This role has both permanent and max term/secondment opportunities available. 

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of superannuation legislation, products, and services.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret relevant legislation and provide guidance to staff.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability in the resolution of technical issues.
  • Ability to identify and develop process improvements.
  • Able to identify, assess and escalate risks according to the Risk Management framework.
  • Patience and the ability to mentor other staff.
  • Strong member focus.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Calm and stable under pressure.
  • Demonstrated professional work ethic with a proven ability to adapt to change.
