As a Technology Application Operations Manager at Australian Retirement Trust, you will lead cross‑functional teams responsible for the stability, performance, and operational excellence of ART’s critical application platforms—including our Platinum Platform, Appian, which plays a key role in workflow and process management across the organisation. This is a hands‑on operational leadership position focused on supporting production environments, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring high‑quality service delivery to internal and external customers. Key Responsibilities - Lead and manage cross‑functional teams responsible for the operation, maintenance, and support of key applications and technology platforms.
- Oversee day to day operations, ensuring stable, secure, and scalable application services aligned with enterprise standards and risk guidelines.
- Ensure availability, performance, and integrity of business‑critical platforms, including oversight of application infrastructure, security, licensing, and data management.
- Drive operational excellence by contributing to platform roadmaps, uplift initiatives, and long - term capability improvements across application support.
- Coordinate incident response, on - call activities, and problem management to minimise service disruptions and ensure strong operational reliability.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process optimisation to support continuous improvement in tools, workflows, and service performance.
- Manage team performance, documentation quality, compliance, financial obligations, and reporting in alignment with enterprise risk and governance frameworks.
- Operate as an operations‑focused leader, ensuring platforms effectively support internal and external customers - this is not a project development area.

We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Leadership experience managing application support, technology operations, or Agile/Software/Application teams - open to strong internal candidates with Tech or Operations backgrounds who understand core ART workflows.
- Technology experience suited to managing a major platform such as Appian, including responsibility for day to day production support and small change delivery.
- Strong relationship - building skills, with the ability to communicate and influence stakeholders across Technology, Operations, and business teams.
- Proven ability to motivate, mentor, and guide multi - disciplinary teams focused on operational support.
- A commitment to service excellence, supporting ART platforms used by both internal and external customers.
- Willingness to participate in on‑call responsibilities, recognising that - like any IT Manager role - there may be after‑hours incident or release management needs.
- Strong organisational capability to prioritise and coordinate competing operational demands in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience or understanding of Appian workflows or business process management - an advantage for transitioning effectively into this role.
