Part-time Payroll Specialist

About the role

As a Payroll Specialist, you’ll be responsible for administering all aspects of the payroll process for Australian Retirement Trust and ensuring the payroll is completed on time with a high degree of accuracy. Reporting to the Team Leader – Payroll Operations, this position is the point of contact for payroll enquiries and is accountable for providing responsive customer service to all employees.

 

Day to day, you'll:

  • Ensure all payroll related functions are carried out efficiently in accordance with industrial instruments, regulations, company policies, procedures, and word practises.
  • Provide technical support and advice regarding the company’s payroll and self-service system.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and availability of payroll system.
  • Meet all statutory compliance requirements as dictated by various governing bodies.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality payroll service through the efficient, timely and accurate processing of payroll information and variations.
  • Respond to employee enquiries and provide timely and accurate advice on payroll administration matters.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and organisational requirements through adherence to relevant processes and controls.
  • Participate in process improvement and system enhancement initiatives in Finance and Tax and broader Finance and Strategy projects.

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual for a permanent part-time role, working 15 hours per week. The primary workdays are Thursday and Friday, with some flexibility available.

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • Experience using Oracle Payroll System or a similar payroll system.
  • Extensive experience in payroll and/or payroll administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll and HR administration concepts, principles, practices and procedures.
  • Experience in administering an in-house payroll function.
  • Knowledge and experience in the interpretation and application of relevant Awards and Agreements.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to carry out duties with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to take on
    additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Experience in the preparation of ad-hoc payroll reports.
  • Advanced customer service skills including the ability to foster strong work relationships both internally and externally.
