About the role We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Privacy Specialist, you will play an important role in supporting Australian Retirement Trust to meet its privacy obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Working closely with Privacy Analysts and broader Data and AI teams, you will help embed strong, practical privacy practices across ART. Key responsibilities include: - Conducting privacy impact assessments on systems, data uses and initiatives
- Assessing third party vendors for privacy risks
- Providing operational privacy advice across the business to support compliant handling of personal information
- Assisting with the development and delivery of privacy training and awareness initiatives, particularly for member‑facing teams
- Collaborating closely with Data and AI Privacy Specialists and Analysts to ensure alignment across privacy operations and initiatives
- Supporting privacy complaint resolution
- Promoting a culture of trust, transparency and respect for personal information across ART
- Supporting the Manager – Privacy with additional privacy and data protection activities as required
This role is a permanent opportunity. 📍 Location: Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. About you It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Experience supporting privacy, data protection, regulatory compliance or risk management activities
- A sound working understanding of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and experience in applying the APPs to initiatives
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of internal stakeholders
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to handling personal information with discretion and care
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience working in complex or regulated environments, ideally within financial services, superannuation or member‑owned organisations
- Tertiary qualifications or ongoing study in law, risk, data governance, information security or a related discipline (desirable)
