About the role We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Financial Accountant, you’ll play a crucial part in ensuring our corporate entities meet all accounting and statutory obligations. You’ll be involved in key financial functions, including periodic reporting, tax return preparation, general ledger reconciliations, and annual audit requirements. Your expertise will contribute to the seamless financial operations of our organisation, and you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with and support our team members. Day to day, you'll: - Prepare accurate and timely general ledger reconciliations, with supporting documentation and accounts analysis as required.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and statutory accounts.
- Assist in both internal and external audit processes.
- Complete tax reporting obligations as allocated for corporates subsidiaries of Australian Retirement Trust including income tax, FBT, BAS and payroll tax.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies including investigating and managing stakeholder queries.
- Provide technical advice to management and identify areas/opportunities for improvement and increased efficiencies within the function.
- Preparation and maintenance of procedural documentation pertaining to functions performed.
- Assist with organisational projects and provision of ad-hoc analysis as required.
This role is a 11-month max-term/ secondment opportunity. About you It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Completed or working towards a professional accounting accreditation (ICAA or CPA).
- Previous experience in a financial or assistant accounting role or able to demonstrate practical experience specifically related to the position description.
- Demonstrated experience in accounting in a broad range of accounting functions including reconciliations, accounts preparation and various tax return preparations.
- Good systems capability with the ability to learn and understand new systems quickly.
