About the role As a key member of the Corporate Legal team, in this role you will: - Provide legal expertise in managing actual or potential major litigation matters, regulatory investigations, and other complex contentious legal issues in a highly regulated financial services environment.
- Act as a trusted advisor, delivering solutions-focused, commercially sound legal advice.
You will work closely with the Managing Legal Counsel – Major Litigation and Regulatory, the Corporate Legal team as well as broader enterprise stakeholders across Australian Retirement Trust. This role is available as a permanent opportunity. About you It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Tertiary qualifications in law and current unrestricted practising certificate as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
- Demonstrated post admission experience.
- Experience in litigation and dispute resolution.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks and requirements, including responding to regulatory requests, particularly in relation to financial services.
- Knowledge of Commonwealth and State legislation as it relates to financial services, ideally superannuation.
- Ability to lead negotiations on a range of complex and high value matters.
- Robust negotiation, drafting, influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organisation.
- Experience in advising and working collaboratively with business teams to deliver time and business critical projects.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strategic working relationships, influence, negotiate with and persuade senior stakeholders.
- Flexible and agile and can adapt to changing circumstances with resilience.
