Senior Software Engineer

About the role

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll: 

 

  • Design, develop and deliver robust application solutions aligned to ART’s technical strategy, using modern engineering practices and patterns.
  • Build and maintain complex solutions using C# and .NET, ensuring scalability, maintainability and high performance in enterprise environments.
  • Design and develop enterprise‑level APIs and microservices, applying appropriate design patterns and integration approaches.
  • Contribute to cloud‑based solution delivery (primarily Azure), embedding DevOps practices and integrating multiple cloud services to meet business needs.
  • Participate in release planning, build preparation, testing coordination and deployment activities across multiple environments.
  • Lead incident investigation and problem resolution, diagnosing root causes and implementing preventative measures.
  • Perform code and design reviews, ensuring high engineering standards, security, performance and quality outcomes.
  • Mentor and support other engineers, contributing to team leadership, knowledge sharing and a culture of continuous improvement.

 

This role is a permanent opportunity. 

 

📍 Location: Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. 

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex C#/.NET solutions, with the ability to clearly explain system design, architectural patterns, deployment approaches, challenges faced and how they were resolved in large‑scale projects.
  • Proven experience designing and building enterprise APIs and microservices, including applying appropriate design patterns and managing technical complexity at scale.
  • Strong hands‑on experience delivering cloud‑based solutions (Azure preferred), incorporating DevOps practices and integrating multiple cloud services to achieve business outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile and Waterfall), release coordination and quality assurance practices.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills across complex systems and transaction‑heavy environments.
  • Experience working in medium to large organisations, ideally within financial services or other highly regulated industries.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders on complex topics.
  • A collaborative mindset with experience mentoring others, contributing to team leadership, and fostering engineering best practice.

 

Experience in superannuation or broader financial services, ITIL certification, and exposure to high-volume transaction processing environments will be highly regarded.
