About the role As a Managing Legal Counsel – Investments (Governance and Sustainable Investments) you will be a trusted adviser and business partner in relation to investment matters, providing specialist, solutions-focused legal advice and services. You will be part of the legal team with a primary focus on advising the Investments Sustainable team and governance within the Investments Business Area and responsible for monitoring legislative and regulatory changes that impact ART’s investments globally. Day to day, you'll: - Be a strategic leader, with a focus on strategic objectives, navigating change, fostering a culture of innovation and adapting approaches as needed while maintaining legal risk within appetite.
- Provide timely, accurate and commercially appropriate legal advice on investment related activities.
- Design, lead and monitor legal and regulatory compliance and governance in relation to investments and investments related activities including:
- Ensuring all entities in the Australian Retirement Trust group related to Investments have appropriate licenses and is in compliance with their governing documents;
- Global merger control and foreign direct investment and other regulatory approvals and compliance requirements for investments in various jurisdictions; and
- Establishment of any new investment entities within the Australian Retirement Trust group.
- Review and assess complex investment related documentation and disclosure documents and providing legal advice to the Sustainable Investments team.
- Review of all public and member facing documents relating to ART’s ESG activities.
- Oversee and/or provide expert advice in relation to management of litigation and disputes arising from investments in the Sustainable Investments team.

It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Tertiary qualification in Law and current unrestricted practising certificate as a Legal Practitioner in Australia.
- Extensive legal experience in a law firm and/or Regulator.
- Ability to lead negotiations on a range of complex and high value matters.
- Robust negotiation, drafting, influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organisation.
- Proven ability to provide professional, concise advice and solutions to technical, legislative, and strategic issues.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strategic working relationships, influence, negotiate with and persuade senior stakeholders.
- Ability to advise and support key projects and transactions and juggle various projects at the same time.
- Ability to undertake interstate travel.
