About the role We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for providing effective financial accounting services and ensuring that all statutory reporting requirements, month-end processes, general ledger, account reconciliations and audit preparations are compliant with internal control procedures and delivered within agreed timeframes. Day to day, you'll: - Preparation of the financial statements and regulatory reporting.
- Preparation of liquidity and cashflow forecasts and associated monitoring processes.
- Coordinate the financial audit preparation and audit processes.
- Support the implementation, transition, and delivery of new applicable accounting standards and required disclosures.
- Provide high quality and timely advice to management on financial reporting issues.
- Prepare and review accurate and timely reconciliations, with supportive documentation, for monthly and year end close.
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and associated elimination entries.
- Identify and resolve any accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
- Prepare and update procedural and methodology documentation and ensure compliance with internal governance standards and associated regulatory / external audit requirements.
This role is available as a 12-month max-term/ secondment opportunity. About you It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce or related field and practical professional accounting experience.
- Membership of a recognised Australian accounting body (CPA / CA).
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Accounting Standards.
- Ability to prepare financial statements and work independently to apply accounting practice and theory.
- Commercial, financial acumen combined with well-developed negotiation, influencing and advisory skills.
- High level numeracy and reconciliation skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with figures.
