About the role

As a Health and Rehabilitation Advisor, you’ll be responsible for establishing and maintaining the Group Life Insurance (GLI) injury and rehabilitation management framework.  Using your allied health expertise, you'll partner, promote and facilitate best practice injury management, and assist with the implementation of safe, durable and cost effective return to work strategies for our members.
As the Health and Rehabilitation Advisor, you'll provide expertise, coaching and guidance to claim managers as well as employers, health and medical practitioners and members, in relation to injury and rehabilitation management strategies and processes.

 

 Day to day, you'll:

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to enhance ART Life’s approach to injury management and rehabilitation.
  • Support claim managers in educating and building collaborative relationships with external stakeholders (including doctors, specialists and employers) to ensure that return to work strategies and plans incorporate the worker’s functional capacity.
  • Coordinate workplace injury management strategies including early intervention, assessment, rehabilitation and implementation of RTW programs.
  • Provide regular training and guidance to the Claims Management team with a focus on promoting best practice injury management and facilitation of safe and sustainable return to work strategies based on the member’s functional capability.
  • Improve results through educating, supporting and influencing all stakeholders through a variety of activities including case conferencing, worksite visits and home visits to assess member needs, functional status, rehabilitation potential and develop appropriate rehabilitation plans.
  • Provide strategic advice on injury management for complex, high risk claims.
  • Assess capability and recommend vendors for engagement in line with return to work / claims management strategy. Establish appropriate performance measures, assess performance to target and identify potential to actual areas of improvement.
  • Engage in service innovation, concept design and project delivery to deliver optimal return to health and return to work outcomes for Members.


This role is a permanent opportunity based at Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • Tertiary qualifications in a medical or allied health related discipline (e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counselling, Exercise Physiology, Social Work or other related health discipline).
  • Current professional body registration (for example AHPRA or ASORC).
  • Previous demonstrated experience in injury management, workplace rehabilitation, allied health and / or in a position with a strong return to work focus.
  • Highly developed multi-facetted communications skills, including the ability to effectively influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commercially focused in understanding insurance terms and financial performance.
  • Highly developed reporting and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of insurance products and services.
  • Experience in coaching and developing others to improve their knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to understand and / or review:
    o rehabilitation claims.
    o counselling techniques.
    o insurance and legal information and the application of this information.
