Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Australian Retirement Trust, you will play a critical role in designing, building and supporting secure, scalable and reliable deployment platforms that underpin ART’s core technology services. You will work closely with engineering, release and environment teams to enable high‑quality, automated delivery while mentoring other DevOps engineers and shaping DevOps standards across the organisation.

 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Designing, building and supporting robust CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient, reliable and repeatable application deployments
  • Leading the development and optimisation of DevOps tooling, automation workflows and deployment standards across ART technology domains
  • Supporting application deployment, integration and operations across cloud and on‑premises environments, including Azure and AWS
  • Collaborating with development, release and environment teams to ensure deployments are delivered within agreed scope, quality and timelines
  • Implementing and improving monitoring, performance, capacity and reliability across platforms and environments
  • Embedding security, testing and quality controls into automated deployment pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to DevOps engineers, contributing to capability uplift and a strong performance culture
  • Participating in out‑of‑hours support and on‑call rosters as required to meet agreed service levels

 

This role is a permanent opportunity. 

 

📍 Location: Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. 

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • Proven experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in complex enterprise environments
  • Strong hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, including PaaS, containers and shared compute services
  • Experience working with DevOps and delivery tools such as GitHub, Jira, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, TeamCity or similar
  • Experience supporting and integrating middleware or messaging platforms such as IBM MQ
  • Solid experience with automation, scripted deployments and configuration management tools
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery practices and working within cross‑functional delivery teams
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide other engineers, providing technical leadership and constructive feedback
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to clearly document solutions, standards and processes

 

Relevant cloud certifications, DevSecOps experience or exposure to enterprise monitoring and observability tools will be highly regarded.
