About the role As a Senior Legal Counsel - Public & Capital Markets, you’ll be a trusted adviser and business partner in relation to investment matters, providing specialist, solutions-focused legal advice and services. You will be part of the legal team with a primary focus on advising the Public and Capital Markets teams in the Investments Business Area. The role is responsible for assisting Australian Retirement Trust (ART) in meeting its legal, regulatory and compliance obligations. Day to day, you'll: - Provide advice and expertise on complex investment related documentation and investment structures, such as Investment Management Agreements, International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDAs), Master Agreement, initial and variation margin agreements, securities lending, exposure management and other trading documentation.
- Provide legal and regulatory advice on compliance with APRA prudential standards including CPS 226 on Initial Margin compliance for OTC derivatives.
- Remain current with changes in legislation and best practice particularly as it impacts investment activities by conducting research, interpretation and training.
- Provide timely, accurate and commercially appropriate legal advice on investment related activities.
- Collaborate and develop strong relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure advice is provided having regard to the strategic goals of ART.

It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Tertiary qualification in Law and a current unrestricted practising certificate as a Legal Practitioner in Australia.
- Extensive legal experience in a law firm and/or investment bank specilaising in derivatives, variation and initial margin agreements, ISDA Master Agreements and trading agreements.
- Ability to lead negotiations on a range of complex and high value matters.
- Robust negotiation, drafting, influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organisation.
- Experience in advising and working collaboratively with business teams to deliver time and business critical projects.
- Experience liaising and building effective relationships with key business stakeholders, including senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to provide professional, concise advice and solutions to technical, legislative, and strategic issues.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strategic working relationships, influence, negotiate with and persuade senior stakeholders.
- Ability to advise and support key projects and transactions and juggle various projects at the same time.
