About the role As an Employee Relations Specialist (Operations), you’ll be at the centre of resolving complex, high‑impact people matters across Australian Retirement Trust, partnering closely with People & Impact and business leaders to deliver fair, pragmatic outcomes. This role is primarily focused on operational ER case support, while also contributing to broader strategy and governance initiatives as needed. You’ll apply your strong employment law expertise and sound judgement to guide leaders through sensitive issues, ensuring consistent and compliant outcomes. It’s a role where you can influence culture at scale—driving compliance, identifying trends, and modelling ART’s values of courage, empathy and excellence. Key aspects of the role include: - Providing operational ER support and advice on complex matters including performance, complaints and investigations, disciplinary matters, long‑term absence, restructures, and disputes
- Ensuring compliance with, and consistent application of, the Enterprise Agreement
- Developing pragmatic solutions to complex ER issues, balancing legal requirements, operational priorities and people leadership needs
- Representing the organisation at the Fair Work Commission and other tribunals
- Driving a strong culture of compliance with relevant employment legislation
- Analysing ER trends and patterns to inform continuous improvement initiatives
- Supporting relationships with key third parties, including unions
This is a permanent opportunity based in Brisbane. About you It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Tertiary qualifications in Law, Human Resources or a related discipline.
- Proven experience delivering employee relations support within a large or complex organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of enquiries and end‑to‑end ER case management, balancing pace with quality and consistency.
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply it in practical, business‑focused ways.
- Confidence interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements and other industrial instruments, and providing clear, pragmatic advice to leaders and HR.
- Experience facilitating meetings, including complex or sensitive discussions, to drive fair and timely outcomes.
- Highly developed stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility at all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a calm, solutions‑focused approach under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills, enabling you to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast‑paced environment.
