About the role

As a Technology Application Operations Manager at ART, you will lead the Database Administration team responsible for the stability, performance, and strategic evolution of enterprise database platforms that underpin critical superannuation services. You’ll ensure secure, scalable, and resilient data environments that support business operations, regulatory compliance, and member outcomes. This role is central to aligning data platform operations with business strategy, driving continuous improvement, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the availability, integrity, and performance of critical enterprise database platforms across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Lead day-to-day operations of database services in alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and risk management frameworks.
  • Oversee database lifecycle management including provisioning, patching, upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Contribute to data platform roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business growth, regulatory requirements, and technology innovation.
  • Monitor systems proactively, respond to incidents, and manage problems to minimise service disruptions.
  • Identify automation opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee team operations including financial management, compliance, and documentation.
  • Manage backlog prioritisation to ensure alignment with business objectives and technical dependencies.

About you

You are a strategic and technically adept leader with deep expertise in database administration and operations. You bring a proactive mindset to risk management, service reliability, and team development. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and foster cross-functional collaboration will be key to your success in this role.

 

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience leading database administration teams or data platform teams in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of relational and cloud-native database technologies (e.g. SQL Server).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operational risk, compliance, and performance including the application of operational and risk frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence across technical and business domains.
  • Well-developed organisational skills for task prioritisation and collaboration.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technology-related field (preferred), with ITIL, Agile or similar certifications.
  • Experience in financial services, particularly superannuation (desirable).
