About the role

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too.

We are excited to introduce a strategic leadership opportunity at ART, placing you at the heart of first-line operational risk management. This role is not just about enablement—it is the core risk leadership function, ensuring best-in-class risk practices are embedded across ART.

As the Line 1 Risk Centre of Excellence, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will design, deliver, and embed a comprehensive risk operating model across the organization. Your leadership will set and uphold risk management standards, ensuring first-line teams proactively identify, assess, and manage risks in alignment with ART’s strategic objectives.

  • Strengthen ART’s control environment and sustainably reduce material risk exposures.
  • Efficiently manage incidents and issues, ensuring timely resolution and remediation.
  • Provide high-quality management information and achieve target state outcomes.
  • Lead the design and implementation of first line risk management functions, embedding obligations into policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Foster a strong risk culture, educating teams on risk management principles and aligning efforts with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with Group Compliance and Regulatory Affairs to monitor legislative changes and recommend initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators.
  • Shape and implement the Enablement risk strategy, aligning goals with ART’s vision and strategy, and support the Enablement Leadership team in risk management.

We’re seeking a bold, knowledgeable leader who thrives on building and embedding risk management excellence. If you're ready to make an impact, we’d love to hear from you!

This role is permanent opportunity. Preferably you would be based in Brisbane, but we are open to applicants in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them.

You are a seasoned professional with extensive experience in leading a first line business risk management function, delivering contemporary risk management models within the superannuation or other highly regulated financial services industry. Your expertise is backed by tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, or a related field, and you possess a strong understanding of superannuation and insurance regulations and compliance requirements.

Your excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills enable you to inspire and guide teams effectively. You have a comprehensive understanding of Trustee/director obligations under APRA and ASIC licensing regimes, as well as obligations under the Financial Accountability Regime. Your ability to navigate legislative changes and reporting requirements makes you an invaluable asset to our organization.
