About the role

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. In this exciting new role, you will spearhead and innovate capabilities that shape and drive the Australian Retirement Trust's (ART) strategy, ensuring our strategic plan aligns with our global vision to become a world-class organisation. You'll be a beacon of thought leadership, offering insights and fostering connections both within ART and beyond.

This will see you:

  • Craft and execute ART's strategy and performance metrics. Design short, medium, and long-term corporate strategies and KPIs that propel ART's overarching vision. Harmonise people, processes, and strategies for seamless execution.
  • Offer strategic counsel to the Board, Executive Committee, and key stakeholders with data-driven plans. Illuminate enterprise performance and anticipate emerging trends.
  • Lead the development and realisation of ART's five-year plan. Strategically allocate financial resources to benefit our members and make choices that secure a prosperous future.
  • Enhance financial modeling and capabilities to assess corporate transactions and opportunities, both internally and externally.
  • Develop long-term performance criteria and assessments to monitor and refine ART's strategic plan execution. Oversee financial governance and major strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure strategic long-term capital management to maintain adequate fund-level liquid reserves. Evaluate major capital expenditure proposals to ensure alignment with ART's strategy.
  • Curate insights and guidance to steer ART's future direction.
  • Cultivate an environment where decisions reflect the needs of our customers and members, incorporating their insights into strategic activities.
  • Apply an external perspective to anticipate market trends and public policy shifts. Collaborate with experts to craft a best-in-class strategic plan.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies that align with ART's risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee budget development, implementation, and management, ensuring alignment with financial goals and efficient resource allocation.

This role is a permanent opportunity and ideally based in Brisbane. However, we are open to considering candidates from Sydney.

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • You hold a tertiary degree or an equivalent combination of education and financial experience, particularly in capital and reserves.

  • You bring extensive experience in strategic planning and analysis, with a proven track record of developing and implementing long-term corporate and business strategies. You excel at aligning day-to-day operations with an organisation's strategic vision.

  • You have a demonstrated ability to build trust, instill confidence, and influence executive and board members to drive strategic outcomes across the business.

  • Your curiosity enables you to foresee future trends and strategically position the company for long-term success.

  • You are politically and commercially savvy, with extensive analytical and financial skills to evaluate opportunities and guide decision-making.

  • You have experience in leading and executing the creation and delivery of strategic plans within a mergers and acquisitions environment.

  • You possess the ability to work and communicate effectively and diplomatically across diverse cultural groups.
