About the role

As our General Manager - Data & AI, you will be responsible for leading the strategic direction and governance of ART's data, data governance, advanced analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. The role will also be accountable for design, implementation and embedment of frameworks, policies and tools to ensure a mature data, analytics and AI risk management culture.

 

In addition to the below accountabilities, leadership qualities and behaviours aligned to ART’s values of ‘courage’, ‘empathy’, ‘excellence’ are to be demonstrated while performing this role. 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data, analytics and AI strategy for ART in line with its purpose.
  • Establish, monitor and embed data governance frameworks and procedures that enable effective and efficient access to data and delivery of data projects.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks related to data, analytics and AI initiatives by ensuring all data practices adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies to manage operations and strategic risks effectively.
  • Explore, develop and implement governance practices in relation to AI technologies to enhance data capabilities, improve operational efficiencies and support key initiatives.
  • Drive a mature data capability within the organisation ensuring that data practices are consistently applied, and risks identified, and solutions remediated.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of business intelligence solutions and data projects for ART that provides insights to support strategic decision making.
  • Inspire and lead high-performing teams by fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture, driving engagement, and ensuring alignment with ART’s strategic objectives including cross functional teams involved in transformation initiatives
  • Ensure comprehensive risk management strategies are developed, implemented, and continuously monitored to mitigate organisational risks, aligning with ART’s overall risk appetite, including the promotion and embedment of a sound and effective data risk culture in partnership with data stewards, owners and custodian
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and management of budgets, ensuring alignment with organisational financial goals and efficient allocation of resources.

This role is permanent opportunity. Preferably you would be based in Brisbane, but we are open to applicants in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. 

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within data, analytics and AI, preferably in a large, complex organisation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, AI, Computer Science or related field
  • Deep knowledge of data governance, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence and risk management practices.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools, programming languages, analytics platforms, AI technologies and business intelligence solutions.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory environment and compliance frameworks for superannuation in Australia.
