About the role

We're seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join us as our General Manager - Performance and Governance. This is a critical role responsible for enhancing relationships with Australian Retirement Trust's (ART) leaders. You'll be the go-to person for financial and commercial advice and insights. You'll be at the helm of driving performance monitoring, benefits realisation management, and governance excellence. Your contributions will be key in pushing ART towards world-class standards and boosting our overall organisational performance.

This will see you:

  • Team up with our leaders to craft and launch a killer performance and governance framework. You'll ensure everything aligns perfectly with our grand vision.

  • Provide stellar financial advice and insights that drive our performance to new heights.

  • Elevate our finance business partner function, bringing strategic insights that make a difference.

  • Oversee procurement to smash commercial outcomes and tackle future challenges head-on.

  • Monitor our performance scorecard and help us hit those KPIs out of the park.

  • Offer game-changing insights on strategic initiatives to the Exec Committee and Board. Your advice will drive accountability and keep us on track.

  • Manage our strategic planning and budget process, always pushing for improvement.

  • Ensure our initiatives seamlessly match our overarching goals. Oversee decision-making and governance like a pro.

  • Oversee benefit realisation and weave it into our economic strategy.

  • Forge strategic alliances inside and outside ART to unlock market opportunities and execute our business strategy.

  • Stay ahead of market trends and policies. Collaborate with experts to keep us leading the pack.

  • Create a vibrant, collaborative culture that drives engagement and aligns with our strategic objectives.

  • Develop and execute risk strategies that fit our appetite and meet regulatory needs.

This role is a permanent opportunity and ideally based in Brisbane. However, we are open to considering candidates from Sydney.

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • You hold a tertiary degree or have a unique blend of education and financial know-how, especially in managing capital and reserves.
  • You have a proven track record in strategic frameworks, engagement, or delivery roles.
  • You're politically and commercially savvy.
  • You have a thorough understanding of the regulatory environment and compliance frameworks for superannuation in Australia.
  • You're the kind of person who can build trust, instill confidence, and have the influence needed at the executive and board levels to drive strategic outcomes throughout the organisation.
  • You've got experience in fostering a positive organisational culture, creating high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.
  • You’re curious and have a knack for foreseeing future trends, positioning the company for long-term success.
  • You've led and executed the creation and delivery of strategic plans in an M&A environment.
  • You've got extensive experience with portfolio, program, and project delivery frameworks, governance, change management, and methodologies.
  • Your analytical and financial skills are top-notch, helping you evaluate opportunities and guide decision-making.
  • You're culturally aware and sensitive, able to work and communicate effectively and diplomatically across diverse cultural groups.
