Contracts and Procurement Advisor

About the role

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Contracts and Procurement Advisor, you’ll be responsible for uplifting material service provider contracts to ensure they are compliant with our regulatory obligations. You will be required to manage, control and implement the operational aspects of the contractual relationship with key vendors, including the assessment of contractual documentation for effective operations and alignment to regulatory requirements. 

 

A key accountability of this role is ensuring Strategic Procurement material service contracts are uplifted within the required timeframes outlined by the CPS230 regulation. CPS230 is a standard by APRA to improve financial and operational resilience, ensuring better outcomes for members and improving the resilience of the financial system. It includes managing operational risks, keeping critical operations running during disruptions, and handling risks from service providers.

 

Day to day, you'll:

  • Review and interpret contract requirements specific to each service provider.
  • Develop negotiation plans to leverage opportunities and drive favourable outcomes.
  • Understand and articulate contract terms to all relevant parties.
  • Lead contract negotiations, administration, and execution in accordance with all company policies.
  • Advise and provide consultation for all stakeholders.
  • Lead conduit between the project community and business areas impacted by material service providers.
  • Provide options and recommendations for navigating challenging negotiations.
  • Manage handover of negotiated contract and provide education to accountable contract owner in order for contract to be fully managed.
  • Assist in maintaining positive long-term relationships with key internal and external stakeholders through regular contact, communication and delivery of quality services.
  • Adhere to the Australian Retirement Trust compliance and risk management framework specifically identifying, reporting and mitigating operational compliance and business risks.

This role is available as a 12-month max-term/ secondment opportunity. 

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • Ideally tertiary qualified in a business-related discipline and/or Level 4 accreditation with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Australia (CIPSA).
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating complex, high risk contracts.
  • A strong client focus and the ability to liaise with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Highly developed multi-facetted communications skills, including the ability to effectively communicate, and negotiate supplier contracts in writing and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines, effectively managing multiple priorities, and delivering in a timely manner.
  • Experience in analysing unstructured information & developing management reports.
