About the role

As a Procurement Specialist (SP) you will partner with the business to deliver long term strategic value for our members. Reporting directly to the Strategic Procurement Manager, you will lead by example and operate with the utmost integrity and professionalism whilst applying a commercial mindset, to efficiently and effectively deliver outcomes that mitigate risk and optimise commercial benefit.


You must have a proven track record in effective category/spend management, stakeholder management and end to end procurement lifecycle management.
You also must be comfortable engaging and working closely with business stakeholders and service providers to help solve business challenges.

 

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Category Strategy Development: Develop and implement category strategies to achieve cost savings, quality improvements, and innovation.
  • Service Provider Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key service providers. conduct regular performance reviews and manage supplier risks.
  • Market Engagement: Lead external engagements that support the execution of strategies and needs of the business. Preparation of quality, procurement documentation, including procurement plans, tender packs and schedules in conjunction with key stakeholders.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions. Negotiate complex contractual arrangements with a range of suppliers, including key vendors.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within the category.
  • Cost Management: Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities. Monitor and report on category spend. Identification of internal and external cost drivers in the category, and development of plans to utilise these drivers for commercial benefit.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure alignment with procurement strategies. Drive the achievement of best practice through contributing to the continuous evaluation and improvement of category management processes, including educating and influencing the business.

  • Champion a procurement culture that values industry knowledge and service provider insights, while educating and influencing stakeholders on best practices and procurement documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of category management plans, driving best practice adoption and influencing business teams across the organisation.
  • Identify, mitigate, and report procurement-related risks through adherence to best practice processes and proactive policy improvements.
  • Anticipate and respond to evolving business needs and environmental changes with agility and strategic foresight.
  • Demonstrate advanced communication skills, including the ability to negotiate contracts and articulate procurement strategies clearly in both written and verbal formats.
