About the role

As a key member of the Corporate Legal leadership team, in this role you will:

• Provide subject matter expertise in managing major litigation, class actions, regulatory investigations, and other complex contentious legal issues in a highly regulated financial services environment.
• Act as a trusted advisor, delivering solutions-focused, commercially sound legal advice.
• Lead and mentor a small team of direct reports, fostering excellence and collaboration.

You will work closely with the General Counsel and Assoicate General Counsel - Corporate as well as broader enterprise stakeholders, to build a world-class operating model for regulatory and disputes management.

This role is available as a permanent opportunity. 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

• Tertiary qualifications in law and current unrestricted practising certificate as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
• Strong post admission experience.
• Demonstrated experience in litigation and dispute resolution.
• In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks and requirements, including responding to regulatory requests, particularly in relation to financial services.
• Demonstrated experience in leadership of other professionals.
• Knowledge of Commonwealth and State legislation as it relates to financial services, particularly superannuation.
• Ability to lead negotiations on a range of complex and high value matters.
• Robust negotiation, drafting, influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organisation.
• Experience in advising and working collaboratively with business teams to deliver time and business critical projects.
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strategic working relationships, influence, negotiate with and persuade senior stakeholders.
• Flexible and agile and can adapt to changing circumstances with resilience.
