As a Senior Portfolio Analyst – Fixed Income External, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering Australian Retirement Trust’s externally managed fixed income investment strategy. You’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, drive investment decisions through complex analysis and research, and help ensure our portfolios are managed in the best interests of our members. Day to day, you'll: - Deliver timely, in-depth research and complex analysis to support the strategy for Fixed Income External, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Support due diligence on external managers, including data collection, analysis, and documentation.
- Assess key credit exposures across defensive and liquid asset portfolios and help develop tools for monitoring credit risk.
- Monitor external manager performance, risk exposures, and mandate compliance.
- Prepare meeting materials and assist in drafting investment recommendations, policy documents, and other materials.
- Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and foster collaboration across investment teams.
- Develop strong external networks and research industry developments to identify new opportunities.
- Collaborate to fulfil governance and compliance obligations and support the risk management framework.

It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - You’re equipped with a tertiary qualification in finance, investments, economics, or engineering.
- You have hands-on experience in the investment industry or a related domain, and you keep up with legislation, regulations, market trends, and risk-reward optimisation.
- Your research and analytical skills are highly advanced. You love diving deep into complex data and uncovering actionable insights.
- You're experienced in fundamental credit analysis and modelling
- You’re a natural relationship builder, able to manage stakeholders and collaborate across teams with ease.
- Your written and verbal communication skills are well developed, helping you explain complex ideas clearly and confidently.
- You excel at managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- You’re proficient in relevant systems and tools, and your meticulous attention to detail ensures nothing slips through the cracks.
