About the role As the Manager, Engagement and Governance at Australian Retirement Trust, you’ll play a key leadership role in driving regulatory excellence and building strategic relationships with key regulators. You’ll oversee the end-to-end process for responding to regulatory enquiries, notices, and information requests, ensuring ART’s compliance obligations are met with accuracy and professionalism. This role is central to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and proactive compliance across the fund. You’ll lead a high-performing team, coach and mentor staff, and champion best practices in governance and process efficiency. Key aspects of the role include: - Manage and enhance ART’s regulatory engagement processes with APRA, ASIC, AUSTRAC, and other relevant bodies.
- Coordinate and oversee responses to regulatory notices, data requests, and formal enquiries.
- Serve as the central liaison between ART and regulators, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to gather and validate information for regulatory responses.
- Maintain a centralised register of all regulatory engagements, tracking deadlines and outcomes.
- Review and improve workflows, templates, and procedures to drive efficiency and quality.
- Ensure all regulatory responses are appropriately reviewed, approved, and documented.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing evidence of regulatory engagement.
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams and provide coaching on regulatory response activities.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the Regulatory Engagement and Governance team, fostering a high-performing and risk-aware culture.

It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field (essential).
- Significant experience in regulatory engagement within financial services, ideally superannuation.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the SIS Act, Corporations Act, and APRA/ASIC standards.
- Proven ability to manage complex regulatory enquiries and information requests.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and building high-performing teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in workflow and process improvement, including developing templates and procedures.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple business units.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
