About the role

As Senior Manager, Regulatory at Australian Retirement Trust, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping our regulatory strategy and driving impactful change across the organisation. This is a high-profile leadership role where you’ll advise senior executives, engage with key industry regulators, and ensure ART remains ahead of evolving legislative requirements. You’ll lead a talented team, foster a culture of excellence, and represent ART in industry forums and working groups. Your expertise will guide strategic responses to regulatory risks and opportunities, positioning ART as a leader in compliance and innovation. Key aspects of the role include:

  • Develop and execute ART’s regulatory strategy in alignment with business objectives.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on regulatory risks, opportunities, and emerging issues.
  • Lead engagement with key regulators including APRA, ASIC, and AUSTRAC.
  • Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries, reviews, and consultations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies and industry groups.
  • Oversee the end-to-end legislative and regulatory change process.
  • Provide expert advice on regulatory developments and their impact on ART’s operations.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing Regulatory team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Oversee preparation of high-quality reports for senior management and board committees.
  • Support integration of regulatory change into enterprise risk management frameworks.

This role is a permanent opportunity based in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • Extensive experience in regulatory compliance, legal, or related fields within financial services or superannuation.
  • Deep understanding of Australian superannuation legislation, prudential standards, and regulatory expectations.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute regulatory strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and challenge at senior levels.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and inspiring high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including preparing high-quality reports for senior management and board committees.
  • Experience engaging with key regulators such as APRA, ASIC, and AUSTRAC.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate, assess, and respond to emerging regulatory risks and opportunities.
  • Track record of managing complex regulatory change projects and frameworks.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, adaptability, and openness to new ideas and perspectives.
