As a Senior Security Specialist at Australian Retirement Trust, you will play a key role in strengthening and maturing ART’s security operations capability. Working closely with our Security Operations Manager, managed service providers, technology teams, and external partners, you will help ensure ART continues to protect members' data through high‑quality detection, response, and continuous improvement of our security ecosystem. You will also: - Support and enhance ART’s Security Operations capability across SIEM, Microsoft Defender suite, cloud security monitoring, and other core security technologies.
- Lead and deliver Defender uplift initiatives across Defender for Office, Identity, IoT, Endpoint, and Cloud Apps (critical requirement).
- Design, develop, and implement new Splunk use cases to improve threat detection and security analytics (critical requirement).
- Conduct monitoring, analysis, and incident response activities to identify, investigate, and resolve security threats on a 24/7 basis.
- Drive configuration improvements across ART’s security controls to uplift security posture and maximise technology investments.
- Lead and support all phases of the security incident lifecycle, including digital forensics, root cause analysis, documentation, and post‑incident review.
- Maintain and improve security incident response plans, playbooks, and processes, including risk assessments and vulnerability assessment contributions.
- Manage stakeholder engagement by providing clear communication to technical and non‑technical audiences, and guiding remediation actions with internal and external teams.

It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Specialist knowledge of information security threats, network/web protocols, operating systems, and security technologies.
- Hands‑on experience configuring and supporting platforms such as Microsoft Defender, SIEM (Splunk/Sentinel), cloud security, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection/XDR, and related security tools.
- Proven capability delivering uplift in Microsoft Defender security technologies (critical requirement).
- Demonstrated experience designing or enhancing Splunk detection use cases (critical requirement).
- Strong understanding of security incident response processes and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
- Familiarity with security standards and methodologies (ISO 27001, NIST 800‑53, NIST CSF).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in cross‑functional environments.
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, Information Security, Data Science, or equivalent experience; relevant certifications such as Microsoft Information Protection Administrator are highly regarded.
