About the role We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Manager - Valuations, you’ll play an important role in managing valuation risk across the fund and ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of unlisted asset valuations to committees that oversee valuation governance. You will partner closely with investment teams, external managers and independent valuers to ensure strong, consistent valuation processes and high‑quality governance outcomes. Day to day, you'll: - Oversee the valuation process across all investment asset classes, ensuring compliance with best practice and regulatory standards.
- Review and challenge valuations from independent valuers and external managers, ensuring accuracy, strong judgement, and clear supporting documentation.
- Contribute to the management of the composition of the Fund’s panel of valuers including coordinating RFPs, overseeing the RFP process of external managers for new assets or when rotation is required, all the way through to the engagement of an independent valuer.
- Monitor markets and industries to identify when out‑of‑cycle valuations may be required.
- Assess the impact of macro‑economic factors (e.g. interest rates, inflation, growth, and geopolitical risks) on asset valuations.
- Support the Valuation Committee and contribute to Board and Committee papers.
- Conduct valuation governance reviews for new and existing external managers to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring, and feedback to support team development.
This role is available as a permanent opportunity. The preferred locations for this role are Brisbane or Sydney; however, we are also open to candidates based in Melbourne. About you It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in excel based analysis, financial modelling and valuation techniques.
- Experience in managing multiple projects with a number of stakeholders and service providers.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of relevant accounting standards.
