About the role

As a Senior Application Support Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the availability, stability, and continuous improvement of ART’s enterprise application landscape. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role, combining deep application support expertise with proactive operational uplift, stakeholder engagement, and team mentorship.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Leading the resolution of complex, high‑impact incidents, performing advanced troubleshooting and comprehensive root‑cause analysis across integrated application and infrastructure environments
  • Owning end‑to‑end change management, including assessment, coordinated release planning, build/test activities, and controlled deployment execution into production
  • Maintaining platform stability through proactive patching, application and integration lifecycle management, system monitoring, and regular operational health checks
  • Acting as technical lead on small to medium initiatives, driving solution design, application uplift activities, and targeted technical enhancements
  • Overseeing availability management practices, analysing service performance trends, and ensuring applications consistently meet agreed SLAs and performance targets
  • Mentoring and guiding team members while developing knowledge assets, runbooks, standards, and review processes to lift team capability and consistency
  • Coordinating effectively with business stakeholders and external vendors on incidents, escalations, service quality, and SLA performance
  • Contributing to continuous improvement, risk management, and the ongoing maturity of ART’s application support and operational processes

 

This role is a permanent opportunity. 

 

📍 Location: Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. 

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex incident management, advanced troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis across enterprise‑scale, integrated systems
  • Strong end‑to‑end experience in change and release management, including planning, risk assessment, build/test coordination, and deployment execution
  • Proven capability in maintaining application stability through monitoring, patching, lifecycle management, and operational health checks
  • Experience acting as a technical lead, contributing to solution design, system improvements, and application uplift initiatives
  • Solid hands‑on experience supporting complex platforms such as Windows‑based applications, IIS, certificates, databases, middleware/integration technologies, and load‑balancing solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage with business stakeholders, vendors, and senior technical peers
  • A strong mentoring mindset, with experience developing documentation, standards, and sharing knowledge to uplift team capability
  • A background in financial services or superannuation (desirable), alongside relevant qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the administration of Jira, Confluence, the Atlassian product suite, Genesys, DocuSign, and TechOne is highly regarded.
