About the role As a Compliance Partner – Workplaces and Members at Australian Retirement Trust, you will act as a trusted advisor to Line 1 Workplaces and Members teams, which encompass Member Strategy & Performance, Brand, Marketing & Communications, Advice, Commercial Growth, and Relationships & Platforms—areas central to how ART engages with members and employers across their end‑to‑end journeys. You will support these teams to meet compliance obligations in a practical, commercially aware way with a strong focus on member and employer outcomes. Working closely with frontline and business leaders, you will translate regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance embedded across member journeys, employer interactions, and workplace services. You will proactively identify and manage compliance risks, uplift compliance capability and culture, and support effective decision‑making where it matters most. You will partner with other Line 2 functions to assess regulatory change impacts, support remediation and continuous improvement activities, and provide insights on emerging risks and trends affecting members. Day to day, you'll: - Provide proactive, practical compliance advice to Workplaces and Members teams, supporting day‑to‑day operational and strategic decision‑making.
- Partner closely with frontline and business leaders to embed compliance into member journeys, employer interactions and workplace services.
- Develop and maintain fit‑for‑purpose compliance plans that reflect operational processes and regulatory expectations across Workplaces and Members.
- Translate complex regulatory obligations into clear, actionable guidance that can be applied consistently by business teams.
- Identify, assess and manage compliance risks impacting members and employers, including emerging and thematic risks.
- Work with Risk Insights and Analytics outputs to interpret data and communicate risks, trends and emerging issues relevant to Workplaces and Members.
- Collaborate with Regulatory Change and other Line 2 teams to assess the impact of regulatory reforms on business operations and support effective implementation.
- Support compliance monitoring, reviews and assurance activities, ensuring outcomes are practical and meaningful for business teams.
- Drive remediation and uplift initiatives following incidents, reviews or identified gaps to strengthen member and employer outcomes.
- Contribute to a strong compliance culture through training, awareness and engagement activities tailored to Workplaces and Members.
About you It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Tertiary qualifications in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Significant experience in compliance, legal, or a related area within financial services or superannuation
- Strong understanding of compliance management processes, frameworks, and regulatory expectations
- Deep knowledge of Australian superannuation legislation and prudential standards
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and challenge at senior levels
- Proven ability to interpret complex regulatory obligations and translate them into practical guidance
- Collaborative mindset, with experience working across multiple teams and functions
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks, trends, and emerging issues
- Commitment to continuous learning and openness to new ideas and perspectives
