As a Technical Lead at Australian Retirement Trust, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping and delivering high‑quality technology solutions that support ART’s strategic objectives. Partnering closely with Architecture, Delivery, and business stakeholders, you will provide technical direction, champion best‑practice engineering, and lead solution design across complex platforms within the Enablement domain. Key responsibilities include: - Provide senior technical and application leadership, ensuring solution designs align with enterprise and solution architecture standards and modern engineering best practice.
- Lead the design and evolution of scalable, resilient technology platforms, with a strong focus on decoupling, integration layers, and minimising downstream impact across the broader technology landscape.
- Champion modern SDLC and software engineering practices, including Agile delivery, continuous improvement, and high‑quality design and documentation.
- Partner with Architecture and Delivery teams to assess, analyse, and design solutions to complex change initiatives, managing risk and technical dependencies effectively.
- Act as a thought leader for modern architectural principles, contributing to platform roadmaps, future‑state vision, and technology strategy within the domain.
- Provide technical governance by reviewing solution designs, promoting consistent standards, and ensuring appropriate use of tools, technologies, and methodologies.
- Lead, coach, and mentor engineers and technical specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and engineering excellence within the capability centre of excellence.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities to improve performance, security, scalability, and ways of working.

We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: - Strong industry experience in senior technical or architecture‑aligned roles within large or mid‑sized enterprise environments.
- Deep understanding of modern architectural principles, including enterprise integration patterns, loosely coupled systems, and scalable application design.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and leading modern SDLC practices, with the ability to clearly explain your approach to software development lifecycle and engineering governance.
- Proven capability in application and technical leadership, guiding teams toward best‑practice engineering outcomes within a centre of excellence model.
- Experience working with Agile delivery frameworks (e.g. SAFe, Scrum) and applying Agile solution design and documentation techniques.
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practice, including quality, security, performance, and maintainability considerations.
- Exposure to cloud technologies, platforms, or processes (nice to have, but not essential), with an appreciation for hybrid and enterprise environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, mentor, and collaborate effectively across architecture, delivery, vendors, and business teams.
