As Compliance Specialist, Monitoring & Reporting, you’ll play a key role in supporting Australian Retirement Trust’s adherence to superannuation legislation, regulatory obligations, and internal policies. You’ll deliver structured compliance monitoring and reporting activities that help protect member interests and the fund’s reputation. A core focus of the role is oversight of insider trading and inside information obligations, including employee and related‑party trading, attestations, surveillance, and compliance reporting. Working with stakeholders, you’ll apply sound judgement, analytical skills, and attention to detail to deliver effective compliance outcomes. Day to day, you'll: - Deliver ongoing compliance monitoring in line with the Compliance Monitoring Framework and Compliance Calendar, including testing and thematic reviews.
- Provide day‑to‑day oversight of inside information and employee trading obligations, including surveillance, investigation support, escalation, and reporting.
- Act as the primary point of contact for inside information requests, providing clear guidance and practical support to stakeholders.
- Review and assess pre‑trade and exception requests, monitoring employee and related‑party trading activity for potential issues.
- Coordinate compliance communications, including new starter notifications and transaction freeze communications.
- Maintain and update compliance systems, registers, and documentation, including the Compliance CRM, Restricted Securities List, and testing evidence.
- Coordinate and report on quarterly and annual compliance attestations.
- Prepare management and governance reporting on monitoring outcomes, key risks, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Support regulatory requests, audits, and legislative change monitoring, contributing to updates to monitoring and reporting activities.

📍 Location: Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne About you It goes without saying you’ll be a strong communicator with great interpersonal skills and a keen eye for detail. You’ll be comfortable working in a highly regulated environment, identifying issues, and applying sound judgement to manage compliance risks. It’s quite likely you’ll tick some of the following boxes too: - You hold tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
- You have significant experience in compliance, regulatory, or risk roles within superannuation, financial services, or another highly regulated environment.
- You have experience in compliance monitoring, testing, surveillance, or reporting activities.
- You have a strong understanding of Australian superannuation legislation, including the SIS Act, Corporations Act, and relevant APRA prudential standards and ASIC regulatory guidance.
- You have exposure to insider trading, employee trading, conflicts of interest, or market conduct frameworks (or a strong willingness to develop this expertise).
- You are comfortable maintaining compliance systems, registers, and evidence in line with audit and regulatory standards.
- You’re able to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, workable guidance for stakeholders.
- You demonstrate adaptability, continuous learning, and a proactive approach to improving compliance practices
