About the role

As Senior Manager – Technology Engineering, you will lead platform-aligned engineering teams responsible for delivering secure, scalable and high‑quality technology solutions that enable Australian Retirement Trust’s strategic objectives. Acting as a trusted advisor to the digital business, you will shape engineering priorities, drive modern delivery practices, and embed engineering excellence across the organisation. 

  • Lead, inspire and manage high‑performing, platform-aligned engineering teams delivering complex, enterprise‑wide digital and transformation initiatives
  • Champion modern engineering practices, including digital software engineering, DevSecOps, enterprise integration, and cloud‑native technologies
  • Drive the adoption of Engineering Centre of Excellence (COE) standards, tools, and frameworks to deliver resilient, secure and performant solutions
  • Operate as an advocate and trusted advisor to business stakeholders, aligning delivery outcomes to strategic priorities and business value
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end delivery of engineering outcomes, ensuring commitments across scope, quality, time and cost are met
  • Partner closely with Architecture, Operations, Application Operations and delivery teams to ensure alignment across the full technology lifecycle
  • Mentor and develop engineering leaders and cross‑functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, clarity, and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to ART’s broader technology maturity, innovation agenda, and the evolution of agile, lean, and hybrid delivery approaches

 

This role is a permanent opportunity. 

 

📍 Location: Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. 

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • Demonstrated experience delivering large‑scale, complex, enterprise‑wide digital and technology transformation programs
  • Strong background in modern engineering practices, including software engineering, DevSecOps, cloud‑native platforms, and enterprise integration
  • Proven leadership experience managing, coaching, and mentoring engineering leaders and cross‑functional teams in a platform‑aligned model
  • Deep expertise across agile, lean and hybrid delivery methodologies, with the ability to apply pragmatically in complex environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, align and advise senior business and technology leaders
  • Solid understanding of governance, risk, security, and regulatory requirements within complex and highly regulated environments
  • Experience with workforce planning, budgeting, and delivery forecasting to support sustainable, scalable delivery models
  • Tertiary qualifications in a technology-related discipline (or equivalent experience), with financial services or superannuation experience desirable
